Supermarkets and pharmacies in NSW can now operate 24 x 7 during the pandemic. They are also allowed to deliver 24 x 7. The Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 was changed to enable this.
Stores will also be able to dispose of their waste at any time of day, rather than during restricted hours, to dispose of the significant and sudden increase in stock.
Home-based businesses also have flexibility to operate at any time and expand their business as necessary.
The changes will be in place until the crisis is over.
